Centre for Innovative Food Research (iFOOD) is a virtual research centre anchored in the Department of Food Science at Aarhus University (AU). iFOOD will carry out research, innovation and talent development within research in development of new innovative production systems and research in natural and convenience foods. The Centre brings together leading competencies within this field through involvement of the following key departments across faculties at AU:

In the Centre, we will build up new knowledge and technologies that will underpin the production and development of natural and nutritional innovative foods (both home and out-of-home contexts). iFOOD aims to become a nationally leading and internationally prominent research Centre integrating and building up excellent research and development on natural and convenient food solutions specifically addressing the grand societal challenges linked to lifestyle trends and health and food. To enable development of innovative food solutions across the food chain, the iFOOD Centre will deliver excellent research within the areas of raw material quality, minimal processing technologies, multifunctional packaging solutions, food formulation and validation, food quality, nutrition and health attributes, sensory and perception of foods and sustainability of food production systems.
